I never thought of myself as a blogger before. But time is flying and I want to remember everything that is happening in this amazing journey we are on. We are a far cry from where we started last year this time. It has been a whirlwind with hardly a chance to stop and look back and reflect on how far we have come.
Connor William Cleary was welcomed into the world at 2:00am January 1, 2012. Our long awaited New Years baby. He sure came into the world with a bang.
The first nine days of last year Connor spent in the NICU. He had problems breathing and then we first learned he had a brachio plexus injury. We spent the first three days Ttrying to grapple with Connor's breathing issues and shoulder injury. He was under an oxygen hood and on an IV. We weren't allowed to hold him or feed him. They started PT in the NICU with how they placed him in the bassinett. Connor was the biggest baby in the NICU. 9 lb 12 oz. and 21 inches long. In the Labor and Delivery Room I referred to him as my linebacker. He got stuck in delivery thus the brachio Plexus injury. He was the giant. As scared as we were we couldn't help but be relieved he was big and looked healthy.
Before we left the NICU we had found out that Connor had also had a stroke somewhere between 7 days before and 3 days after birth. We were floored. We didn't even know that babies could have strokes let alone what this news would mean for our newborn.
