Connor recently was reassessed for his Individualized Family Service Plan IFSP. He is doing so well. They assess
him in a few different areas but it comes down to Fine Motor, Gross
Motor, and Language and Cognition. He rocked the Language and Cognition
area! Our Vision Special Education Teacher did the assessment. She
asked him to point to a ball in a book and he pointed to it on two
pages. Then she gave him a ball and asked him to say “ball” and he
said “thank you”. We both got a chuckly out of that.
For a 12 month old he has a nice vocabulary. Mamma,
Dada, Go, Thank you, Good Job, Bailey, Choo Choo, ball, hi and cat. But if you
ask him to say something he generally will say it. I have heard him say giraffe before.
Then came the gross motor which covers walking and
crawling. He was scored like a 9 month old since he is not walking yet.
But I am not to concerned because he is cruising and going up the
stairs and doing everything Thomas was at this point. And in the fine
motor department he scored at age level, mostly because he only has to
be doing the things he is supposed to be not necessarily based on doing
it one or both handed. All in all he is doing wonderful!
After all this our OT did tell me that she is shocked he is
crawling, she didn’t think he would be able to do it. At least not
without a lot of support. But he is! And he is doing great! We can’t
turn around for a second without him disappearing into another room or
popping up next to us.
Well now that Connor did so well and our IFSP was revisited we have lost some services. This is a good thing!
Our schedule since Thanksgiving has been :

11:15 Little Gym for Thomas (T.J. has been taking him since we have overlap)
And in all that Connor also had been doing an addition hour of therapy with the cast on with me and all the morning stretching
Needless to say our house is a wreck, housecleaning is not a priority.
The big change post IFSP is Thursday afternoons are
free to do fun stuff with the boys. And come March we will no longer
have OT on Friday’s so I get to bring Thomas to the Little Gym myself. I
hope to catch up with friends then.
It seems like even in free moments I seem to make them
crazy busy though making up for the fact I devote so much time to
therapy with Connor I drag the boys to extra activities during this
time. This Monday we went to the Children’s Museum and then Thurday
with our extra time Thomas got to go on a Pony ride and all three of us
walked around the nature center.
Always busy.
