Notice how both of his feet are under him and pointing inward. This is what we want! Yay! They look like spandex bicycle shorts but are sown together at the junction between the legs to entice him to keep his hips together when he sits as opposed to having the hips bow out into a "W". Supposedly better on the knees and hips. I did not know this, and didn't really think there was a problem with it. I used to sit in a "W" all the time as a kid. I thought the teachers were crazy for always telling me to sit "Indian Style". Now I know. I was worried about how he would get around with the helpers on but he seemed to not even notice and just kept on trucking.
The Cleary's had a busy Saturday. Spent the morning at the Shoe Train with Ed. Connor's Leapfrogs came in and we had to make sure to go right to the source of all things orthotics. The guy is a wealth of information. Connor went up a whole size shoe since our last visit, which means new shoes again. Ouch. Kids are expensive. While we were there I had Ed look at Thomas's feet. Paranoid parent that I am I don't want to miss something with Thomas since I am hyper focused on Connor. Turns out Thomas's feet pronate a bit. Just something Ed and the Shoe Train will be keeping an eye on for Thomas. I guess I will continue to bring both of them with me here. Thank god they have a train table to occupy the boys. The shoe/orthotic fitting took almost an hour this time.
Another fear of mine has been eliminated though. The latest worry was that Connor would have trouble standing and cruising in the higher up orthotics. Not by a long shot! Nothing is going to hold this kid back! Go Connor Go...
Here are some picks of the kids playing with their new parachute.
